Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Tubojoke...what’s happened to you honey?

Tuboscope....You once we’re the top of your peers in our industry but wow, how you’ve have fallen. I used to walk down your halls and seek advice from great men and women and really believed when they told me something, I had just learned something new. Now, when I walk your halls, I’m overwhelmed with the stupidity and craziness that this company has become. Decisions that are made here on a daily basis that affect our company outlook and our ability to manufacture the products that we sell are beyond question, they’re just plain d-mb. We’re really at the beginning of the decline of what once was a great company.

If it’s so bad, just leave already. Who’s making you stay here? Your wife? Why do you constantly come on here with your petty little insults about the same people complaining about the same calls every time someone posts something about this group? Move on with your life. Please. This isn’t healthy

Tuboscope is terribly mismanaged. Engineering VP allows all of his groups projects to go way over budget and the equipment never operates as designed. Look at the phased array set up over here at Grant. None of the engineering group can tell you when anything will be ready for service or how it will really even operate. Look at the Corrosion VP. He allows his group to completely run out of product. Look at the Drilling VP or whatever they call him. Guy looks like he should be on infomercials pumping out ads for women’s hand products. The icing on the cake though is the sales group and their team of VP’s. Between the ALT calls and coating calls, it’s a wonder our sales team even has time to make sales calls. Neither of the 2 regional Sales VPs know what’s going on. The South Louisiana Slickster couldn’t pass a high school GED equivalent test. So sad.

Yeah right. Tuboscope would spend $100 to make $10

Say what you want about Tuboscope but we’re the ones keeping Wellbore afloat.

@1ldr+1aKNX4BZ - Love that you point out the amount of VP's and Directors, that is seriously a problem. I have never understood the layoff strategy at NOV. Ki-l off all the workers and retain management ...who's left to "manage"? This layoff strategy is not unique to Tuboscope ...its company wide. I also do not like that offshore help is being promoted as much as it is. These people will never have the same insight as people that grew up in the business.

Reduce the size of our management. Make some of these VPs actually work. The Coach is a perfect example. What function does this guy really have here? What does he bring to the table? Same with the VP of engineering. He’s got Directors underneath him that manage everything while he sits in Holmes Rd counting down days until he can retire at the lake house. What about the VP over coatings? Does anyone really know what this guy does? He’s got more VPs and directors under him, yet he gets nothing done. Why so many sales VPs, Sales Directors and Sales Managers? Is it really necessary?

@OP+1aKNX4BZ - Serious question. If you were in charge what changes would you make?

Engineering VP. Period. No other comment needed.
