I’ve heard some rumors of big layoffs. I wouldn’t like to spread fake news or panic, I just want to ask if anyone has more insights? When could this happen and how big could the cuts actually be? Some people are pretty sure that big layoffs are inevitable. What do you think?

Oh god this is gonna be bad. The nepotism where I work is rampant and the d-mbest most juvenile people have the bosses ear it’s really messed up. Sometimes I wish I would get laid off it’s such a toxic work environment.
restructuring is coming. matter of weeks. new positions for everyone except SM and ASM. new pay scale. expert booksellers are chosen. everyone else is expendable. if your store played favorites before, expect things to get much, much worse.
Never seen a manager laid off at this place, very protected.
Exactly how many full-time people with benefits are left in the company?
I assume if anyone gets booted it would be them, they're costing the company the most.
Unless they're management- but these days, even they could get canned and replaced by even more stupid new managers d-mb enough to board a sinking slave ship.
SO much easier than waiting until after you lose your job.
Some people think they can’t do any better.
Sad.
I never understood the mentality of sticking it out at a place, scared to death you're going to lose your job. If you're that worried, there's a reason. End the stress by finding a new job. It's SO much easier than waiting until after you lose your job.
I haven't heard anything about layoffs but our store is torturing anyone who is full-time with benefits so they quit. Nothing new here, it's upper management's MO.
Predicting Barnes and Nobles is having mass layoffs is like predicting it will rain sometime this year. It's going to happen. It happened in the past, the chance of it happening in the future is 100%. What matters is what are you going to do about it. If you aren't sending out resumes every week, or don't have a backup plan of living in your parents' basement, you're d-mber than a box of rocks.
