Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Esurance status

Why is Allstate transform plan quiet on the Esurance front? This company was to be dissolved months ago as the biggest failure for Tom Wilson along with the failing life company.

Allstate direct sales and Allstate subro could have learned a lot from Esurance if they listened, but they acted like they were taking notes on what Esurance was doing and then ignored all the good things that worked and did it the same way they have always done it.
Esurance sales training was phenomenal. The sales support team was available at the touch of a button on a quote call when needed. Changing policies on how to quote/sell were done immediately, as soon as the email was read or the meeting was over, the new change was implemented on the next call. Competition, bonuses, motivation and energy were there on the sales floor.
Subro department encouraged hitting goals, not just so you could avoid brow beatings at review time if you didn't, but so you would win monthly bonuses if you did. Their people had a claims background, they didn't advertise to hire writers for their arb team, they hired people with claims experience to understand how to argue liability to win those files.
Allstate thinks they are better because they are bigger and have been around a long time. The bigger a company is, the slower they are to adapt and change to the times and that's why Allstate acquired Esurance several years ago. So now Allstate is turning Esurance which was the young, fast, smart, energetic company into the old, fat, slow and mentally challenged clone of itself.

Esurance may not have been a failure, but certainly not a success. NEVER made a profit, and grew at rates much lower than comparable competitors. Allstate paid $1 billion to acquire, and then took a charge to wind it down. It's become a niche for the no-prior insurance customer segment. And they won't make money there either.

Esurance is not a failure. If anything it’s what Allstate aspires to be. Us Esurance people would rather Allstate leave us alone altogether. This is the worst thing that could have happened. We do not want to be merged or dissolved.
