This was mentioned several times in the VSO threads. What is the 9 box people keep referring of? Are there secret ratings other than bte, expected etc?

Google 9 box. It’s a measure of performance vs potential that your manager determines.
It’s a measure of your perceived worth to the manager in your area of responsibility. What is the likelihood that you will leave and how would your loss affect the business area you are in?
The 9 box is a way for a direct manager to totally destroy your career if they do not like you..
It is totally totally subjective and accepted by leaders at higher levels without question.
You have no appeal or right to discuss it and most non leadership employees do not even know that it exists.
A way to place well liked employees on a fast track or destroying the future of an employee that is not liked.
I would ask for a copy of your 9 box. And also your “hidden” low, med, high rating. It’s ridiculous that the 9 box factored into who is selected for VTO and the people selected have never even seen the 9 box themselves.
In a nutshell, yes. But they are subjective and have very little to do with actual performance. Let's just say personal opinion of who and what you are plays a lot into it and it really isn't something you can correct or control.
