At what point did you decide to leave this company? I have long thought that the problem is in me, that I complain a lot and that everything is very stressful for me because I do not know how to manage stressful situations well, and that I need to stay here because nowhere is ideal. However, at one point I realized that I could no longer bear all this. I should have left much earlier.

Hey 18 year guy, what is the advantage to getting 20 in? I’m asking because I’m 17 in and thinking hard about walking too. As far as I know, for us mechanical guys, it is months of service times $10 and that is your monthly retirement. So is it just to get the extra $350/ month?
Also, the consistency in this thread is crazy. This sure is a company with some despicable people at the helm.
You're already dead Hunter!
I’m 18 years in and just tired of this sh-t! I’m moody all the time and always on edge. My wife is urging me to quit but I’m so close to 20. Fu-k NS and Fu-k Cindy Sanborn. If I had a crystal ball 18 years ago I would have walked away!
I left a little while ago. Best decision I’ve made. Much less stress, bringing home the same amount of money. And I work for a company that actually cares about its employees. Don’t let them bulls**t you I to thinking that it’s the only good job out there.
We're not allowed to mark off sick without a doctor's note.
The time to leave the railroad was yesterday , I’m done .
They’re the worst. They don’t care about your family or anyone else. If you want to attend a funeral , you have to mark off sick because they won’t allow it. F N s
I’m 18 years in and just tired of this sh-t. Everyday is like a reality show! It’s not just you is most people except for the office kiss as--s. I use to love to come to work but now I extremely hate it! I’m just so close to my 20...
When is it enough?
When I get mine!
I wrote the philosophical comment. Yes it can suck, but what can make it suck much much less is when you don't let the place take control of your mental state. It's in your control to not let the place bother you.
Working for NS sucks! Nothing deep and philosophical about it!
"If you really want to escape the things that harass you, what you’re needing is not to be in a different place but to be a different person.”
That was a quote by Seneca an ancient philosopher. You choose your happiness.
Yep. It’s time. The RR isn’t the best paying and best benefits job it was just 10 years ago. Why be miserable every day just for retirement. If you don’t live long enough to retire, you spent what time you had being miserable...
It sounds like you're already there.
