What future is left for EM?

The truth of the matter for EM is that it has passed its glorious era and the sun is setting fast on this industry. As a result, we will see the following fallout from current situation:
A) Early 50-60yrs old employees which include GC herself. Some will be Piped without much payout (that's how the system works, as u get older, you become an anchor ie you sink. That's why they are often branded the anchorman not for no reason lol) while those that remain, they will perform the job of "last office" ie shutting down and winding up the operation. They are also likely to sink with the ship but will a life jacket or buoy :)
B) early 40s to late 40s. This is the unfortunate sandwiched group. They will find it challenging to switch runway with equal pay. But if they continue to stay on, they will be too young to “die” before their times sinking along with the ship
C) below 40s, this group will jump ship. It’s no brainer that this industry could not provide them the runway till retirement. They will bite the bullet to switch career even if it means temporary pay cut.
With the above scenario, what future is left for EM???

Very well said, @45zfh+16zEvLP3. Unfortunately, I think the future of EM is doomed.

Agree here…many will get great raises. Longer term benefits for the less than 40 are extremely questionable. Company will be fine in 20-30 years….but its going to be funny when the 10k person campus is filed with 6K on a good day.

EM will be around for another 20 years easily. It will however lean down as the years go by--it has too. The days of getting a pension, huge bonuses and very high pay are over. There will be employees who will get rewarded generously but that group will get smaller and smaller with time.
