Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

They neglect providing service because of the spread sheet?

What I noticed in the last few years was that the managers seemed to be more concerned about a spread sheet than getting the work done correctly. Look at customers reviews on the Better Business Bureau site and you’ll read what many customers told me in person when I went to their business to install ethernet and Gig internet service. If the first level managers are so worried about a spread sheet because the second level gives them a hard time and threatens dismissal everyday, they should still be concerned about providing service instead of being scared of a spread sheet. Read the customers reviews and then you’ll know why managers get fired all the time. When a first level manager says he’s going to a new position it means he couldn’t hack it and is getting fired. Why do the recent first level managers not last in the position? Because they don’t know much about the AT&T technology sells today and also older equipment that is still maintained. I think they should read a book once in a while and quit being chicken about spending time in the field of learning.

True. Our new management in the stores care more about " leads" and cold calling than assisting customers waiting in the store in front of you. If the phone rings, we are to tell the customer in front of us to please wait - and then we answer the phone with the customer still in front of us. You should see all of the people who walk out of the store now in total disgust. And this cold calling. Its doing great. We get told to f off constantly and no one answers their phone for the most part. Let me ask you something - do you answer your phone when an unknown number calls you ? Ya, that's what I thought. Spread sheet numbers and a dog chasing it's tail, that's what we do now.
