Anyone know the policy on using PTO before resigning? I know they don't pay out after resigning. I want to use my hours and I know I'll be resigning in another month or so. I'm getting conflicting information. Do I need to use it and then I can put in notice when I return? Or can I get lets say the week of 5/14 approved and also have that be my last week? I can't wait to get out! I'm wanting to leave ASAP while also using my PTO that I earned. I know the sick time is wasted, but oh well.

Be aware that in some State (like California), your PTO will get paid out when you leave for what ever reason. This saved me financially after being laid off. But yes, if you give notice, you cannot schedule time off. But maybe you’d rather have the cash... check labor laws for your State! Good luck!
Use all your PTO first, then give your notice !! I gave my notice first, and had not quite 2 days of PTO left which I thought I could have taken during my notice-period as the PTO days were approved prior to me giving notice. I was however told that once notice is given, no PTO can be taken, irrespective of it being approved months prior. HR also said IF, and only IF my director gave the go-ahead, I could take it during my two weeks notice-period. Allah be praised, my director did blink, and gave the go-ahead for me taking it during my notice period, so I did managed to have it.
Either call in sick or do some doctors appointments to use up that time. You earned it and it’s yours. To be safe you’ll get your full time off I wouldn’t submit resignation until after you come back. Wouldn’t want them to accept your resignation and say “today is your last day then.” No trust in company it wouldn’t happen so use the time you rightly earned.
Use it then put in notice so there's no fuckery from them. Or at least put your time in, get it approve then resigned then they can't say a thing, Congrats on getting out. It's the best!
Use all of your time prior to giving notice. I was laid off and was told by HR that that’s my time in my bank, I accumulated it prior to layoff and I can use it, just request off like your normally do, keep that you’ll be giving notice to yourself.
I would do the below as I was thinking about it and I have lot of sick and PTO. Call in sick and use up all sick leave. Work for a week and apply PTO leaving couple of days. After PTO, send resignation as you will have 2weeks to work and transition. In those 2 weeks, u can take rest of your 2 days.
