What I'm asking is if there's a reason to really try and improve or if I should just give up and start looking for something else right away? I've heard from many people that once you're officially on a PIP, you're as good as gone already. Does anybody here know somebody who was put on a PIP and is still employed?

No PIP just a mandatory for every employee
It would be better to leave rather than have that on your career record. Use up your sick leaves to think about your next career move. DXC is a sinking ship. All the customers are fleeing for the competitors and the best talent have either been WFR’d or left to find better roles.
They don't need a PIP to get rid of you - WFR will do that. But, with a PIP on your record then your chances of any future career development are over. Get out, now. Find something else before you're simply kicked out. I never went through this process, but don't know of anyone who did and managed to survive. It's just a way to get rid of you cheaply.
Get out, get out now, and find something better
This is May and the managers still don't know their budget for pay increases , what a bunch of bull. This should have been figured out and budgeted already. How does a pat on the back compensate for increasing costs of living?
Guys, just take the WFR. I left in mid 2020 after 7 years of the toxic culture. took a $100k WFR package and within 3 months had a new permanent role on client side almost at double by DXC salary. Since then the market has continued to heat up and salaries have increased even more. Life is so much better on the client side. Outsourcing is dead. Make the leap and thrive. Good luck.
I know of several csc people who were terminated by the pip process who went on to win unfair dismissal and receive a payout from the company.
As I said before, it's curtains for the op, start collecting the evidence now while you still have access to your emails...
A PIP serves one purpose, which is to have documentation to support termination. By having the documentation they can avoid a wrongful termination lawsuit. No lawsuit will proceed when the company has proof they tried to work with the employee. This is not unique to DXC. All larger companies use this game.
Net result - you are already terminated, but they have not told you yet. Sorry. Best to move on.
Hmm…depends on what you want as the outcome…and how much effort you want to put into the PIP once defined and how much effort you want to put into defining the plan. Having run two of these previously, you generally get out of it what you put in….and that’s the rub. Mostly they are a last resort by managers, if a quiet word and then another final quiet word doesn’t fix the identified underlying issues, then…..
My advice is engage and play the game.
as an ex DXC manager I can tell you that if you are put on a PIP then the chances of remaining at DXC are not good. PIP is usually a final nail in your career coffin. Its lots of work for the manager and HR to coordinate and they don't do it unless they think there is no alternative.
My advice is start looking externally now.
The old CSC call center days you needed 3 in six months to get fired. They basically used it as an excuse not to give you a raise.
Your manager hates you, regardless of your performance.
I've never seen one turn around, they aren't meant to.
Don't forget to start building your unfair dismissal case, because it's coming. Collect evidence of whatever abuse they have put you through and lawyer up.
Don’t look back. Explore and enjoy!

What is a PIP?
Hit the road Jack and don’t look back.Move on.
Just a formality that hr is going thru to fire you.
Your time is better spent looking for next job.
