What was the worst department you worked for or worked with and why? You’re welcome to be as specific or vague as you like.

TBH it's not been 1 area its been more to do with really cr---y project managers with absolutely zero application development skills who end up producing broken products. let them go work for Microsoft, we expect that from them.
Payment Integrity AMS team hands down. It's who you drink with to advance in that area.
Enjoy going through this site and the Optum site. LOL. The audit department was Irvine CA. Everyone at that facility witnessed it. Some out of State also heard about it. Was such a freak show. I vote for that one.
Community and State is the winner followed by Payment Integrity and OptumRx Internal Audit department. 🎉
Community and State. Totally horrendous.
Rx Audit Department. S*x, lies and videotapes. The worst.
Payment Integrity. Everyone knows we are the poorest performers, lowest knowledge, living off of historic good decisions. The CIRE program isn’t understood by the leadership who developed it. We go to other business areas to get what we have to get done. Embarrassing to work in this segment.
Payment Integrity!!!
Everyone drinks the assistant directors bath water. Even the director. It’s as sad as it is comical.
Unrealistic expectations, constant badgering about “mAnAgE yOuR tImE bEtTeR” when the work load is incredibly overbearing. They continue to compare to whole department to the 2 consistent top performers but refuse to give everyone the same opportunities or freedoms as those 2. It’s okay for them to make compliance errors, but no one else.
Blatant favoritism
Community and State Corp people are the worst. The blind leading the incompetent. This company should not be in the Medicaid space. They only use it as a feeder for Optum.
Group Sales & AM. The teams have no direction from leadership even as our roles are constantly going through some new form of "modern segmentation" but no one knows what it really means. People are responsible for serving our consumers at the same time hearing foggy statements how we shouldn't be. This sh!tfire will pass like they always do but the most infuriating element of working with sales is how your "teammates" will do whatever it takes to look like a king while throwing your whole dept under the bus. But leaders don't care, as long as those sales keep coming in who gives a #$(& about the clean up afterwards, even when it causes others to take the heat and even lose business when a renewal is lost. Saying yes to everything doesn't make anyone a successful leader or sales person, but it does makes you the brokers b1tch who uses that to their advantage at every turn. Horribly run organization.
For the OptumRx audit department besides the vulgar relationship between those two and the hostile environment you forgot to mention the race discrimination that went one. The department ended with all of one race employed in Irvine. And it wasn’t Bl---s.
My current department is the worse by far. Lack of communication and direction.
I was told that last week there were changes that impact our team. But nobody will tell us what the changes are. We will have new assignments, but no further details provided. The changes already happened. Ok, again we don't know what happened, no email, nothing from leadership, zip, nothing. It's some super-secret.
How can we trust our leaders when they lie?.. saying they will share information with us, but clearly they are not.
Community and State. Anything to do with implementation of new states. Shifting job responsibilities, lack of clarity in roles, Health Plans that are completely clueless. Miserable people who think that being virtual gives them the right to talk to you anyway they want. Say it to my face, bet it wouldn’t roll off your tongue so easy. WFH has turned some people into even more rude versions of themselves.
DFW quality
Worst Dept? Being Behavioral Care Advocate and watching how many people did NOT want the program and how it auto enrolled anyone with any kinda of medical condition and how people few and far between wanted our coaching help because they knew we could listen to their stories of woe but couldn’t take away their actual life circumstances and how they didn’t feel program helpful at all. People were quite over the top enraged that the system auto enrolled them. So then they hired people to ask assessment s which tricked them into saying yes But when we called and explained what those questions enrolled them into they didn’t want anything related to mental health and asked to be disenrolled. Oh and in terms of the few that wanted the program many times they scrambled for “success” stories with panicked managers having to justify our depts existence because so few had any stories of success. The entire dept continued simply because auto enrollment ensures of the money we could get from the government and it still exists to this day. 😂
Payment Integrity AMS. Clueless leaders, several female favorites of one of the directors and most if the best talent has gone or is leaving. The clients are paying a high price in more ways than one for this service.
Optum Tech IRD. Total Romper Room of millenials who thought they were so much smarter than everyone else because they worked in a group with the word 'innovation in the title. Totally clueless. Fortunately it was blown up in 2019, but remnants remain at Optum and are without doubt wasting valuable capital on their ideas that countless startups are already doing, just better.
OH BH CM. Not even sure where to start.
C suite. Folks coming and going after they drank all the us corporate kool aid. Singing, skits, dancing as they screamed the corporate aims. Brainwashed Sickos
Referring to CA for RX audit. Ge-z hope there wasn’t another department like this one. Unbelievable what went on.
referring to KT from rx audit?
Good grief. Had to be RX’s audit department. VP had affair with an employee. Both created such a hostile work environment that no one could work after hours for fear of harassment or vi-----e. Can’t imagine any other department could ever be worse.
All departments!
Payment Integrity never responded to questions with a solid answer. Useless and entitled group of people. My Leader was always scared of saying something. Afraid of what? I don’t know. Maybe afraid of work. Spineless leaders is common.
E & I Health Advocate (Tier 2). When I started this position I felt like I was lied to by omission. Had 90 days of training. 1 week before we were start taking calls we were informed that we would not be given a 10 min wrap up and the end of the day which means we almost always work late. Of course there's no OT so they just adjust your schedule for the next day which is a pain in the a$$. Super stressful. Back to back calls of angry people which puts you on edge and speaking to terminally ill people is really depressing. Programs and system break down everyday which ensures the call starts off bad. Have not seen any improvements due to their constant updates. Usually things are worse when something is updates. The quality of this position has been going down steady for at least the last 10 months.
