I see the hiring link for Tucson, I'm wondering if anyone has any info about the location?
I'm on the border of furlough where I am with mostly coal traffic which is dying. Looking at their seniority roster out there, it seems they're hiring to most likely furlough for a while. Just wondering if it's at all a good idea to jump?
TE&Y out of Tucson here. Only hiring because everyone they hired 3 years ago never came back after being recalled. Seniority sucks in tucson

The run 100 plus stacks to and through Tucson. They fire a lot of employees and officers there
I personally wouldn’t move anywhere for this company right now unless your ultimate goal is a relocation for moving on from this company. There’s no real solid ground to stand on anywhere on the system right now and the light at the end of the tunnel has been auctioned off for profit.
Thank you, well some of you. I have 15 years, but again, our area is mostly coal, and dying off quick, just looked at the UP Vision and see all the intermodal running through there so I figured I'd ask if it was going to get busier or at least maintain. But also I notice on the roster there probably won't be many retirements for 5-10 years, and that's if guys go at 30 years.
Just weighing options, maybe I should get into food trucks, I see people love the tube steak here.
Hot dog guy is just pointing out to all of us and reminding us how bad things are here as far as treatment of employees I’m assuming. When I started 20+ years ago we were fed steaks at safety and employee appreciation events then it was ground up steaks aka hamburgers now it’s ground up lips and A-holes aka hotdogs. Probably just trying to always remind everybody that we are not really thought of very highly from this company. Me myself I would rather eat a vending machine sandwich vs one of their cruddy safety feed meals. Also I don’t need to sign a piece of paper stating who my manager is and that I have indeed choked a nasty old hot dog down.
I agree....the hot dog stuff has gotten old. It just sounds childish at this point.

What seniority date are you giving up to go out there? They're hiring because late last year they terminated all the FG's that had less than 3yrs seniority and more than 365 days of FG status. When things picked up they sent recall letters to the remaining FG's and only a handful returned. They're doing some short "shake & bake" new hire classes very soon, so if you're going to transfer see if you can swing it and get a date established before they mark up.... good luck. PS, housing costs are skyrocketing....so factor that in. Might be cheaper to stay where you're at even if you're only marked up six months outta the year
Why would you relocate just to be furloughed? Stay at your current location and ride it out, you still have a job! Good luck
