Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Is this salary a joke?

$37k for a claim adjuster role? Seems really low compared to other companies.

Progressive is on the fortune list of “best companies to work for..”

Salary is mid $40s at progressive starting where I’m at in claims . Same stress and workload . Micromanagement like here. I miss the gainshare bonuses at the end of the year . Made the move here a few years ago because the work environment was much better here in terms of work life balance , but not anymore .

Sounds like someone should learn some skills to increase their job options and salary range

That is a joke! I made more than that starting at Farmers back about 10 years ago.

When I started Allstate as a claims adjuster, it required a degree. I believe that was my starting salary, but it was 20 years ago, yes, 20 years ago. That salary is lower than a basic customer service representative in any industry. My God, just say no and be a CSR somewhere else and enjoy your job instead of walking into a s*&# show.

It's low compared to other companies. Allstate knows the job market isn't great right now so taking advantage

I am curious also why you believe that it should be higher. It doesn't require a degree, or a difficult skill, it is a pretty routine run of the mill job.

That’s because it is a lot lower than other companies.

@pxd in many states it requires a license, and it’s also a high stress position. It was stressful even before the company was trying to operate on a skeleton crew, now it’s a nightmare. People should be fairly compensated for their skills and their stress.

$37k is far above the current market rate, which is set by Allstate India. Only the absolute superstars will be retained stateside, and by that I mean people who vastly exceed their target numbers because they're not stuck in the 90s.

Is AllState a 'for-profit' company or what?

You should take one of the other countless offers you clearly have!

Explain to me why it should be higher?

Does it require a degree? Does it require strenuous labor? Does it require specialized skills that take years to master?
