During the layoff meeting with HR you are required to provide your mailing address, personal email address and personal phone number. Almost immediately after, I started receiving unsolicited commercial emails, phone calls, text messages. I was subscribed to mailing lists without my consent. I was harassed by calls, texts, and emails from third party companies who knew I had just been laid off and had all of my personal information. Be aware, Windstream will give out this personal information without informing you and without your consent.

We all updated our LinkedIn page after being let go.
That's one way for the spanners to seek out their pray.
They feed data to The Work Number, which is an Equifax company. Those spam calls/emails are probably from predatory companies that subscribe to data from Equifax. So when you are laid off, your employment record gets updated there and those companies notice, sense blood and start trying to con folks.
I noticed this as well. I had not connected this to Windstream until now. I was laid off last year and immediately I started getting these calls etc. This sounds like a lawsuit.
I don't see what's in it for Windstream to give out or sell this info however maybe some HR employee is selling this on the side?
I don't know.
in order to get my computer looked at, I had to give an overseas tech (india) my social security number....why the f^&k did Windstream give them my SSN????
Did you miss the part where we got hacked and a ton of employee information was part of what was stolen?
Cr---y way for WS to make a few bucks - sell employee info to advertisers
Definitely given out by Windstream. The spammers are addressing me by my proper name which I only used at Windstream. They’re targeting my personal email address which was only given to HR at my layoff meeting. The spam being sent is dealing with shady health care coverage with messages like “get your Bidencare now” and shady outplacement services. The types of messages are targeting people who have been laid off. The only people who know about my layoff are Windstream and myself.
Did Windstream give it, sell it, or was your info taken in a data breach? We know that the company was breached by ransomware last year. Maybe it's a larger problem.
I was hit also....fu$k windstream
