Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How enthusiastic are the "new talents"?

I met one, and, while it wouldn't be fair to judge others based on him alone, I sincerely hope they are different because this young man has no enthusiasm for work at all. So this company laid off my colleague who was a top expert, to later hire someone who doesn’t want to work here at all...

True. A experienced skill set to write estimates and help customers is no longer wanted at Allstate. Over 1/2 of the new people hired at fast food temp wages with fast food work temp ethics.

Nah, the new generation isn't going to change a thing. Whether you are a 40 year tenured employee or a young self entitled change the world brat if you do not fit snugly professional wise or wage wise in Tom and Glenn's plan and vision you are expendable at the snap of a finger. And eventually if needed the whole enterprise will ship off to India.

"YOU WANT FRIES WITH THAT?" Genz & other millennials have no idea what a "hard days night" looks like let alone feel it. They took the word "ethic" out of work — now it is just another paycheck until a better offer comes down-the-road. We will not recognize this place in another 4 years IF it is still around.

Paws out for a paycheck to do the bare minimum? Based on comments made on this site the last few months, that doesn’t seem to be uncommon with many that “survived” last year. Now we are blaming a generation group. You can’t have it both ways.

The new generation isn’t going to put up with 55 hour plus work weeks and being worked like slaves, which is a good thing ! Hopefully, gen Z brings the corporate world to its knees. Allstate is already bringing in billions of dollars a year and now it’s just pure greed that’s corrupted Tommy and Glen the Butcher into laying off thousands during a pandemic . Any other insurance company do the same as these two grinches?

Very few are enthusiastic. We have had so much turnover over the past 5 years that we were sc-aping the bottom of the barrel even before the layoffs. Now we are forced to fill the seats in mass due to being so short staffed. Combine the "bottom of the barrel" that makes up the 80% of new hires here plus the mass rush to fill the seats and we have classes full of people who don't care, don't wish to learn, don't want to work hard, and just have their paws out for a paycheck for doing bare minimum. But they are a lot cheaper than the actually skilled and tenured employees laid off and that is the name of the game now to ensure Tom and the gang get their bonuses.
