Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Judged in interviews

Hey guys, just curious. Do you ever feel judged in your interviews when you state you were part of a layoff? Before, I interviewed and had no problem getting the job. Now it feels as if they look at me as if I did something wrong. I don’t even get so much as a rejected email.

Sorry for bringing that up as a possibility. You’re right, it sounds as though you were a shoo-in, which makes it even worse.

OMG! This totally sounds like me. I was ghosted. It's been almost 3 months and nothing. Went through all the rounds and NOTHING! But I don't think it's a judgment on being laid off.

@van+1a7q3nv9 I’m sure that does happen sometimes. I honestly didn’t have the fear of rejection, I was actually confident, because I was already doing the work. I also spoke with the hiring manager prior to the interview. The interview went very well. It wasn’t until the no responses came that I begin to feel some type of way. Asking myself am I being judged for the layoff. I made it through the recruiter, the video interview and to the face to face, then ghosted. Nothing was really asked differently in the interview than what was already discussed. I was praised on my follow up questions and experiences. They went over the allotted time talking to me cheerfully. Then ghosted. That’s when I started wondering if I was being judged from the layoff. Who knows. Thanks for you guys responses. Also, thank you for the well wishes :-)

Pardon me for suggesting this, but is it possible that such concerns or fear of rejection come through during an interview? Be coky like me, but not too much so.😏 They’re the ones lucky to have you. Good Luck!

I also should have mentioned the interviews that I had were still with Centene. I was in the interview process as I was getting notice of being laid off.

Don’t take it personally. HR departments are so busy right now that the volume of work often outweighs the details. Being laid off s—s, but it’s not a ding on our professional history. Almost all
HR departments know that layoffs are usually the result of poor management at your former company.

I think most people realize Centene is a sh– company. What's even worse is that the longer you've worked here the more it works against you for future opportunities. You are viewed as dirty as the company you slave for!

Thanks for the reply’s. Maybe This PTSD from working at Centene has me over thinking. I agree Centene is a real trip. I’ve never worked for any place like them.

I don’t feel judged bc I tell them I dedicated a decade of my life to a company that went through a merger and straight up tell them it wasn’t performance related and I had a counterpart on the Centene side. Most get it because they know that mergers happen. And those that don’t are companies that I don’t want to work for. Why? Because they’re aholes like Centene.
