Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoffs

I appreciate all the talk about AT&T and its good-for-nothing leadership, but can we also get some info on layoffs? From what I can see there's been no mention for a while now. Does that mean there's nothing planned (at least that we know of) for any time soon?

Managers will be eliminated, craft has work restoring the company’s good name. Ask a customer their opinion.

That’s truly the extent of BS! They keep hiring more techs to sit around doing nothing and collecting a nice paycheck. The Supervisors keep saying, “the work is coming, so we’ll need these new techs for when it finally does come!” In the mean time, more techs than work.

Which VP said that an MVO is coming in 2 months?

TO Post ID: @1mvf+1a5Bfy7g We had an announcement in our VP TownHall that we will be offered an MVO in 2 months and this would give those interested time to prepare and gather information to make a decision rather than a last minute rush to figure out if you should take it. Don't believe the lies of "NO MVO on 2021". The Health Care subsidy and Pension changes will not lead to any retirements until near end of year and reductions are needed sooner to meet targets.

Our leadership was asked point blank about layoffs and an MVO offer. We were told no layoffs planned, yet we are starting to hear rumblings that one is coming. Stankey was asked about MVOs in his last Q&A, he said there will not be one and that those days are over. If you are waiting on an MVO to leave, you are wasting your time. There will never be another one.

Exactly what kind of training is required to pull fiber through buildings? The people doing it now that I know have had zero training! They are told to do a job, get it done and move on to the next order! The only person with some training is the person terminating the ends and that’s if it’s even required! They can easily hire people off the streets to run fiber and have one person as designated lead person...believe me, that’s all it takes! Then, they can reduce headcount of high paying techs willing to leave!

Well with all the people they have just driving around doing nothing I would say no there are no layoffs they are keeping folks for this supposed fiber build and would rather they beat off everyday rather than have to retrain folks later

My supervisor told me that they (management) had a meeting and were told they would be no layoffs in my business unit at least for the next two years. Now, I’m a bargained employee and been with the company for 23yrs and I’ve always known At&t to stand for “At this Time” . So tomorrow things can change.

In my area the higher ups in thief TH stated in response to this question that they were working with HR and each manager will have a spreadsheet with who qualifys for MR75 as they are not supposed to ask.

They also stated no layoffs planned for us this year unless Stinky strikes again. Definitely no MVO.

I have seen other areas hit.

We have heard zero at this point (Q1) which would indicate nothing until Q3 (at best). As several employees have mentioned, a large percentage will be leaving at the end of the year. It doesn't make sense to pay severance when folks are already leaving.

I suspect if business services doesn’t pick up in terms of more work, then yes there will be more people notified in June. The work just isn’t there right now and management has been saying for months now that it’s coming, but so far crickets! If T is OK with paying people to sit around doing nothing, then all I can say is it’s good work if you can get it!

Likely some strategic re-orgs once WFH comes to an end. Lots depends on business climate and how the market does over the next 6 months. As of right now not a lot is expected...so enjoy..

There is no planned layoff this year yet. There would be workforce reduction and optimization, but managements found that while they have trimmed fat, they also lost muscles and gaining muscle is much harder than losing weight.

However if you think your work would be easier, think again. You would likely be put on a diet and worked harder. So work harder or get burnt.
