My question for techs who were given notice, how were you notified? Which way?
Also interested in whether you had the opportunity to negotiate severance pay? Some say it’s possible, while others claim it's not. I’m debating whether I should even wait for severance or to accept the first solid option that is offered to me.

Yeah, several called me and wanted me back In the same job for $8-10hr. My truck and tools. Like you, I laughed and hung up.
To the answer below you are lucky. After taking a VSPP the contractor contacted me and offered $13-$15 an hour and wanted me to supply the truck, tools and equipment for underground work. I laughed and hung up.
Boss comes in and says I need to see you. Sorry, but I no longer have a job for you, but I don't know when your last day is. I will let you know as soon as I know. Then hands me a list of jobs he wants done. Mysteriously, as soon as I get the jobs done a couple weeks later, I get a date. The next day first thing in the morning.
Please have your box packed and personal items out of your truck today. Can you find a ride home or will you need an uber? No negotiation that's BS. You have no say in anything. I asked if I was being targeted as senior man since the young guys with their noses buried in their phone all day while I worked were staying and his answer was, no, but they are going to have to learn to work and pick up the slack. Very bitter and disheartened, but only temporarily.
I ended up going to work for a company run by former CTL techs and enjoy every minute of it. Health is better, nerves are better, appreciated and don't have to wonder if I will have a job from day to day.
no notice escorted out the door within 10 mins with a cardboard box
" The Level 3 way "
I have heard they will sometimes adjust your last day worked if you get an offer that wants you to start before your quoted LDW. It's worth asking.
