Thursday's in the Us is the day for pink slips. Like clock work ..So if your mgr tells you they want a one on one meeting with you on a Thursday .......get the Kleenex out , you are done ! Good luck folks , IBM has sold its soul to the devil .

To stay on plan IBM has to RA 1000-1500 folks out of the worldwide pool per week. This is independent of spin-offs or sell offs. Just remember what is driving this equation Costs and efficiency are the driving issues. You could get laid off today, and IBM could spin your division off tomorrow. NOTE the lay off would still proceed. Each division has been told where to focus on. GTS = driving costs lower, GBS = driving out costs via partnerships and sharing the overlapping expenses, cognitive = eliminating overlapping SW products (in general Redhat wins and legacy IBM takes the hit), systems = eliminate non-profitable and non-value cloud products (Power and storage that means you are shrinking). mainframe survives due to its monopoly status. Why? It’s easy to extract profits or pass thru costs when you are a monopoly. Good luck to all but AK has tasked the bean counters, and they are ruthlessly marching forward.
