Because keeping American jobs and saving money such as selling real estate they already own makes too much sense...
It's the Allstate way. Say just enough to cause panic and anxiety amongst the ranks then have everyone guessing for months when they already know what the plan is. Everyone knows our jobs are being outsourced to Pune one department at a time. All this is an effort to cut premiums by reducing salaries to gain market share. Well, our customers do not want to deal with India. They cannot provide the customer service our insureds expect. Good luck! There are so many other ways to cut costs and let us keep our jobs, but no. Greed and lies.

Like was said below, our department was told we would find out by April 2nd (next Friday). Our VP was told about two weeks ago, Directors were told last week, and Management is being made aware this week to relay to their direct reports next week.
Though, thankfully, our VP and leaders have been mostly transparent through all of this and almost everyone already knows who will be staying home and who will have to return (barely anyone) so the announcement next week won't surprise anyone.
Nobody is withholding the info. They communicated that it will be shared by end of March and we are still in March
Leaders had a call yesterday and the info on their teams should be out by this Friday to be shared next week with their direct reports

Why are they sending anyone back? If a company has proof that folks can work efficiently for a year.
It has not yet been decided what groups are returning to the office and when. They’ve been saying the info will be announced by end of April since January.
A company like this is toxic for mental health. They want to keep employees waiting with baited breath. It’s stupid.
They are withholding more info than the average employee knows. For example, sending easy claims to India to handle for them to train on. The employees across the USA are on a need to know basis and in Tom and Glenn’s minds the only thing the employees need to know is to keep working until they are told you are laid off. Transparency. “We’re in this together” are just buzz words and phrases. They bank on employees being hopeful and in the dark.
