Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Culture Crisis

The culture and moral is at an all time low. Managers and supervisors are fearful of their jobs so they create complexity and micro manage in order to cover their basis so nobody messes up on their watch and they get de-ranked for it. It’s really hard to work here right now. Good to have a job but every day is challenging with all of this stupidity.

Is it just me or do others see this to?

Speaking from middle management, I can tell you that we do not get to make the decision on who gets PIP and let go. We are told who we can’t get rid of then there aren’t many to choose from. Don’t blame us, we are just following orders, if we don’t, the next one will. You would do the same if you were in my shoes. I’m not sugar coating it. It’s not personal, just business. Yes it is not good or fair, but life isn’t fair. Like you, we are just trying to survive so don’t make us the bad guy.

Can't tell if this is in response to my previous post, or just a separate comment. Either way, if they (supervisors) can't make a strategic choice, then they aren't fit to be a manager. Sounds like the chickens may come home to roost.

Again, one can only hope that this new MLRP round takes care of the fat that has wallowed in the mud for too long.

First line supervisors were told number to cut. Weren’t able to make strategic choices.

About time managers are scared. What did they think would happen when they cut people from their team, not strategically picking the correct bottom feeders, and now left with truly worthless a—kissers to do the work? Turns out that having a wet bu—le doesn't translate into having a group that can actually produce/perform.

Have fun middle management! Hope you've learned a lesson, but I'm sure you haven't!
