Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

New hires

When I first came here, this was a completely different company. Anyway, I struggled a lot trying to fit in because I didn’t have much previous experience. I can't even imagine how it is for those who are just now coming here.

I would not like to be in that position and it is not clear to me how in times of modern communications, when one can know everything there is to know about the situation in this company, can anyone still have a desire to come to work here?

People need to feed their families, keep a roof over their heads, and pay the bills. In many areas the job market is still quite bad and people will take chances in a bad situation at least for a little bit to make ends meet. Allstate knows this and exploits it. Fear of a shrinking bank account and not being able to pay the bills drives people to despiration. That is why we have interviewed hundreds of former Allstaters that were laid off for recently open positions. We have many of these seasoned tenured folks who worked in areas of expertise and management with Allstate before being laid off willing to take band 2 and 3 positions when 12 months ago they would never have imagined doing so. Unemployment and severance only takes you so far.
