I’m in GTS. 3 people in my team have quit this month. I talked to FOUR friends in other teams who just accepted offers and plan to quit in a few days. I look at LinkedIn and all I see are goodbye messages from People I know from other business units. Are you seeing the same in your teams?

Whoever asked about pay... That depends 100% on location and years of experience (band 6, 7, 8, 9, 10).
You can work hard at IBM and get 0% raise. Not even keeping up with the cost of living at this point. Anybody got their cash payout AK was touting earlier in the year? I did and it was $30. You read that right, $30! I will jump as soon as I can find something.
just kinda curious - what does an SE in a devsecops type of job make at ibm? Anyone know? roughly..
@mez+1a003nc8 bingo! Ibm isn't even paying as much as indian tech companies operating in west, aka the WITCH.
Even they're giving out bonuses and raises to employees which are only restricted to execs at ibm.
Even if one works hard, they'd give 2% raise lol so it's better to work hard on leaving
FAANG, legacy Big Tech as well as Accenture, Big 4, and the India Pure Plays all had record profits last year and are giving their employees huge pay raises. I have friends at many of these companies so I know for a fact this is true. Covid is an excuse for poor company management and Wall Street isn’t buying it anymore.
Ummmm... Unless I'm missing something, part of the plan is to "encourage" GTS to leave voluntarily. They put up a gigantic sign that says "no future here, folks."
@goy+1a003nc8 IBM’s problems started well before covid entered the scene. They most likely would have lost that revenue anyway. It’s a sad situation. It’s like watching the sinking if the titanic.
At some big clients, IBM lost up to 50% of revenues in 1 year, primarily due to Covid related business downturn. Something's got to give. US Treasury & politicians can print free money & give it to the masses, to keep their approval ratings high (at an extreme cost to US Dollar though), keep State & Federal employees on payrolls (as if nothing happened), but private companies especially the vulnerable ones like IBM are going to get deeply affected. No amount of wokism or lipstick-on-a-pig is going to help. Lay-offs will continue to happen at a bloated IBM unfortunately...
Yes several have quit recently.
IBM is trying to force people to relocate to keep their jobs yet offering no COL increase for them. That's the sign of a sh!t company that does not value their employees. Not to mention the last time some of those people seen a pay increase.
I like the response "Fresh young faces will replace them." lol I'll add....from outside of the US. Latin America is coming on strong.
What's the GTS saying to customers?? oh yeah. "We agreed to provide you with a service, not a resource. We can get them from anywhere as long as they provide the contracted service."
IBM’s leg up was always work from home. Now that other companies have said work from home permanent after pandemic GBS is seeing smart talent leave in droves
Storage is growing its staff.
Mind you, it's all second- and third-level managers and Process Transformation Business Portfolio Analysts.
Meanwhile, we're losing all of our NTI team because, apparently, managing Betas and gathering user feedback are either unimportant or require no special skills, and can just be "folded in" to everything else developers are doing, right?
I keep hearing how bad things are in Systems, but I haven't heard of any layoffs or people leaving/quitting from Power or storage
Stop worrying. Fresh young faces will replace them. In the meantime, you'll have to work two or three times harder because understaffing. Oh.. don't forget, you also have to train the newbies.
Same in my group. Remember all those years when IBM didn’t invest in the cloud? Turns out they didn’t invest in the software either.
