Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Golden years

What a gloomy situation it is now and I don’t even remember the times anymore when I was happy to work here and felt that my job was stable, when I didn’t have to think every day about layoffs and the injustice that happens. A question for those who have been here for a long time: what were the golden years at Allstate for you, when did you feel the most comfortable in this company?

Things started going south in 1995 when we went public. Has just gotten incrementally worse every year since then. Retirement soon thankfully

Been here 45+ years - survived all the nonsense and just kept plugging. Was actually proud of the job we did and what we did for customers. After 1998, when they made all the agents quasi-independent in name only, pride diminished. Last time we really felt good about what we do was 2002; now we just go through the motions and try our best to keep customers.
