Maybe he just wants to cash out and leave the dumpster fire behind him. I am sure that Apple is willing to pay him twice what he was making.

Next 60 days you will see non-technical managers try very hard to learn fast to pretend to be technical to save their hides or look for package/exit strategy...causing reorgs and uprise in technical folks getting some level of control. It is very unstable times for Intel.
