Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel fab spinoff might double its value

A CEOs and BOD primary job is to maximize value for the owners of the company and that is the stock holders. What is good for the owners should be good for the employees that are left.

By every metric intel is poorly valued compared to those that design like AMD, Nvidia, Qualcomm and even Broadcom. Or compared less leadership chip manufactures like Infineon, NXP, ON, Microchip, Maxim, or of course compared to the gorilla in the Business TSMC.

It is busted how a company that has the corner on the highest margins is so poorly valued for what generates huge cash flow.

If LTD and TMG had even been half competent I would think the stock would be at 85 - 90! So they have cleaned house and things are still a FUBAR and what is the value in investing north of 5 Billion to be behind in scale and technology with no chance of ever making it worth the investments? Far more obvious to spin off the fabs, take the 5B and give it to Samsung or TSMC as down payment on 5 and 3nm capacity with slightly less margins than waste it way on TMG.

Let TMG fend for itself, that will change the behavior and thinking too from top to bottom of that poisoned organization and purge the remaining rot there.

Who knows cut free and forced to compete maybe they can revive themselves.

Anything less radical will always mean the stock holders not getting their value. What will Pat ( PG ) do?

TMG is awful. design is even more awful. Haifa is the only site worth anything and even they lost all their good people to better companies. Oregon is a joke, literally a raj run by corrupt third worlders.

Are you kidding? TMG is not the issue, anyone who works here knows that. The chip design is at fault. The non of the design team is to design not just a chip but a chip that can be ma manufactured in high volume. This is where design and PTD let everyone else Down. 14nm issues, fabs tried everything for 2 years, ended up going back for process design tweak and over night no more Manufacturing issue, same has now happened on 10nm, issues just sorted. This is not a fab.

Both would do even worse when split. It'd just accelerate the toilet flush.

On the contrary, it is the fabs that must spin off the deadweight architecture and design teams.

It is not going to happen. If Intel outsourced their production, they will not make same kind of margin as what it is doing now. Then, their stock will tank.
