Read up on burnout - symptoms, organizational causes, etc. and see if that is what you're experiencing (or on the way to experiencing). If it is, evaluate what needs to change to prevent it - a true vacation where you really disconnect, different manager, different org, different job, etc. and start working to make the changes. If you're experiencing any mental health issues as a result (anxiety, depression), go a see a doc. If it is bad enough, they may sign you out on MLOA.

Burnout isn't a failure of a person to handle stress effectively; it's an organizational failure. And it S—S. You don't want to get to full burnout if that's where you're headed. I spent years at Intel in a hugely stressful role, but had a great management team, so loved it; moved to a different company in a similar role but where 4 of the 6 of the organizational causes of burnout existed for me, and was done in less than a year; spent 6 months on MLOA convalescing and while I'm better, I'm still not fully recovered.

Quit then, don't stick around and be a cancer for the rest of us. Go work at Walmart.

You have two options, OP.

If you don’t care whether Intel fails, you shouldn’t let the company get to you so much. Just view the job as a paycheck, put in enough effort to pay your bills, and no more. Understand that BS comes with the territory and that you’re one of the majority of people who doesn’t like his job but does it for money. There’s worse things in the world.

If you can’t divorce your stress level from your job, then get a new job pronto. Life’s too short.

Graphics organization of a lady VP- with initials ARAO along with her Indian cronies was famous for this. Most Americans were afraid to say anything and were just yes men. It was an expectation that everyone said yes

People in some groups cannot bear children at Intel because of stress. It is not physical or even mental work stress but the stress of being constantly chided often times for no reason, just so that the other guy can show his or her leadership.

And the stress of the rest of the team wanting to see you fail and putting roadblocks in front of you.

Every company has mental stress and most employees can deal with it but this type off toxic stress is unbearable.

I spent 26 years there and the stress never really goes away. I learned to live with it in the background. Yes, being knowledgeable puts all the workload on you, but it was jog security. I retired and found that I needed something (missing the stress?) and got a government job. A job without stress is great. For me, a better segway to retirement.

You must be having an indian boss who wants everything done asap. Throw it back, prioritize, ask for priority only do well one or two high priority items in a day. Everything else is really low priority and is not important.

Do you work as a Fab PE or in gsm direct materials?
My bet is yes. There are technical and commercial jobs way less stressful... and guess what ... you get paid the same!

My advice is to interview and look for something else quickly. I did that and I am so much more happy. No more ulcers, no more weekend me TF, a lot of work, but not as stressful.

Is it a strategy to run people out of the company? Some people know the only way they can have a 100K job is if they are willing to be "online" 18 hours a day 6 days a week. Not exactly being productive that whole time.

Yes this is how it feels. Careful not to go down with the ship, don't ruin yourself over a job/boss/career.

What are you stressed about? The workload? Just don't do it and say you couldn't get to it. Or just don't do it well. I feel like the people who work the hardest and suffer the most stress make the least $. Let management feel the pain too and have them bear some of the stress and earn their pay and bonuses. Don't show them how smart and capable you are or else more work will come down your pipeline. Play dumb to survive and look for new opportunities in the meantime. I doubt the business will shut down if you don't meet some deadlines.

Sorry you're feeling that way. It sounds like you really need someone to talk to, but this isn't a great forum for it since we all jealously guard our anonymity here. My suggestion: create a burner account on Hacker News, and for advice for navigating or eliminating the stress. FWIW, I'll keep you in my thoughts.
