Is it all in my head?

I’m just going to put this out there. Lately I feel as if I’m being systematically forced to quit. Its little things, like management changing my job functions routinely and slowly making work a living hell for me with so much micromanagement. I’m NOT the paranoid type; in fact I’m a very relaxed person who takes life in strides. Is this all in my head or am I being forcibly pushed out?

If your manager didn't micro-manage in the past, but does now then it means you are not delivering on his expectations and he feels the need to direct you micromanaging until you see how he wants you to behave. I think this is pretty typical of managers around here, instead of being direct and having an awkward conversation, they micromanage until you figure out what they need you to do.

JPMC is a great place to work, with some caveats. The biggest issue I see here for individuals is that the longer you stay here, the more your skills start to get obsolete, which have little value outside the bank. Hard workers are promoted quickly and soon they become VP where they are pushed to develop more soft skills. 5 years later when you are looking for a job elsewhere, its hard to land jobs with just soft skills and lack of deep hands on technical work.

As individuals, we need to be in control of our skills and work extra hard towards retaining and developping our own technical skills. Keep doing side projects, trainings and extra curricular engagements to stay relevant.

It’s all in your head. We’re all just cogs in the machine. Nobody really cares much about his or her coworkers. Sometimes work just gets easier or harder and it’s nobody’s fault. Just take care of business everyday and don’t overthink it.

I told my manager I'm no longer open to being put on extra special projects, training new employees, or doing tasks that are really her job as manager. After not getting a raise my do attitude is do the minimum possible. I have several female coworkers on my team that are continuously going out on short term leave for mental health reasons, then come back to work months later with a good tan. I told my managers it's not my job to take their work. At Chase if you work hard your manager takes advantage of you while the people that do the minimum and go on leave continue to thrive.

I must say as a manager the business unit we support has become more demanding as they are requesting more and more of us quicker and quicker. This has lead me to speed up our normal team deadlines and do more huddles and check ins and so it's not people on the team. I would say it's all in your head

I think it's all in your head. You work in a high pressure highly regulated group whose directives change with the market. Keep up the great adaptability and you should be proud of yourself. We need more professionals like you

The feeling is correct and isn't all in your head. Though it may feel completely wrong to you - you're being managed out in some type of fashion.

no its not - its called being managed out. The same thing to me when they unilaterally moved me to a role I have been open about that I hate - with a collaborator who is known to be massively incompetent nd no one wants to work with...jokes on them while wfh....diff story in office....im waiting for a riff while i apply.
