I really need to get out of here. I’ve been putting up with bullying for far too long. I thought about going to HR about it, but everyone knows how that would turn out. I can find nothing…and I mean NOTHING good about TR and it’s literally making me miserable. I should have left years ago when I had the opportunity but I felt like I belonged here. Damn was I wrong.

I loved working at TR the beginning Not the last 2 years. My boss has turned into an unhinged person since their boss was let go a few months ago. They have since bullied me in 1x1 and made up stuff to give me a bad review. Probably hoping to get me to leave. Not to mention the team I'm on is waiting for 3rd reorg in 1 year which I'm sure will be layoffs. Time to move on. Hr role is never for employee. It's to protect the company
Problem is that HR is no longer on the premises of many of the different company sites. You could work in say Hoboken (when it was open) and your HR representative was in Connecticut.
I witnessed gaslighting first-hand at TR. I didn’t realize it was happening to a colleague of mine because it was so well-coordinated and I had foolishly assumed “positive intent” by all parties. Fortunately, I had the wherewithal to begin to connect the dots and question a pattern of departures of several other of my colleagues through the years. I soon realize that my dept. was the “fall guy” for projects that go south. We take the blame (aka headcount reductions), as other departments get a free pass and stay protected.
Psychological mind games coordinated by Managers, Directors, and VPs to plant the seed of self-doubt within unsuspecting/undeserving employees with the primary goal of breaking people down mentally and physically, all in an effort to get them to leave. Oh, I forgot to mention that HR is in on this too.
Shameful practices for a shameful company.
Sadly, subtle passive and micro aggression is common. On their own, they don’t seem like a big deal. But when you add up the behaviours, you can see a mountain of poor behaviour.
It is not just HR that needs to lift their game - they only work within what the company dictates. Claims of bullying need to be addressed by the company, along with, in my opinion, poor performance by some of its managers.
The HR function at TR is very weak. Sorry, HR ladies who troll this blog, but it's true.
For one of the better definitions of bullying go to Wikipedia and search on “bullying”. I think people here are referring to both managerial and “collegial” behaviour that falls within this definition. However, if I’ve got it wrong I guess they’ll let me know.
This is at least the second recent post that has included the term "bullying." Can someone please explain what that means in this context? Specific examples (without naming names)?
Completely agree, this is a rather significant issue. I know of a number of people that brought situations to HR which have been "investigated" which turned out to be "unfounded". The reason I know this to be a sham is that I witnessed the behavior and in a number of them HR was actually in the room. Next, these people were put in a corner and bullied until they either left on their own or were terminated. HR never asked any why's, and that shows they don't really want to know or care. If asked I could put together a list of at least 10-15 people, literally off the top of my head that were bullied and treated unfairly by one particular sub segment senior leader (hint: its not legal, corporates or reuters news). Don't want to say who it is, because it obviously wouldn't make a difference, but it wouldn't surprise anyone, if they looked in the file or cared to know.
Bullying–nothing overt or explicit of course, everything 'between the lines'–set up to fail, placed in a limit situation, all the attendant mind games.
No one should have to put up with being bullying. This type of behavior is unacceptable and shouldn’t be swept under the rug. No exceptions. It would be good to hear from others to see how wide spread it is. Whatever you decide to do, I hope it all works out for you.
