They didn’t intentionally hurt sales but amazon had to know at some point that something of this magnitude could and would happen. Let’s them finally take over all control as the company hasn’t really changed. Whole Foods as a company of amazon was only still run by Whole Foods based on stipulations of turning around business practices. OTS and reduction of shrink were just the start then came combining teams and letting people go.

Whole Foods on amazon wasn’t affected because it runs on Amazon’s servers.

Why hasn’t amazon integrated Whole Foods on their network?
Why are old ordering systems and tools still in use?

Amazon has the tools needed to make Whole Foods business run better but have only slowly given them some tools.

Whole Foods is way behind in ordering systems and tools and yet they still don’t run correctly

Amazon already owns WFM they can already do as they please. Why would they hurt sales to "Take control" of anything when all the power is already in Amazon's hands? The WFM corporate team are merely puppets for Amazon to play with now. They are using them as guinea pigs to learn how to not run a business and they will hopefully be disposed of in the near future.

You really think it was a mistake on Amazon’s part? I feel like amazon let it happen to finally take full control of logistics and procurement. They already use our distribution centers and take our product for the amazon fresh stores. Now they can have full control and clean house

The mistake amazon made was leaving already existing systems in place. What kind of company has no disaster recovery plan or an offsite backup for network traffic to be routed to in the event of failure. The head of technology should be crucified for this disaster how much money did they lose with this cluster.
