Thread regarding Follett layoffs

G 10

Two RM’s are indeed heading for the exit, like a previous thread stated. When is the next round of store layoffs coming?

I know one of the RMs that recently left and never thought he would. It was very telling when I heard he went somewhere else to work and who he went to work for. He was and is a good guy. Wish him the best!

My RM can't even handle the stores he has. How is he going to handle any more? I was kind of hoping he was #4, but he's got Spring Break next week! Can we possibly get a hint at who is leaving?

Anyone who has worked for JC would not be surprised. His management style is fear and intimidation. Public dressing downs of people. When times were better at Follett that was a lot to deal with. Now? Why would anyone stick around to be treated like that from him.

Yes, all 3 (and I heard #4 is on the way out) same group 10

Is this 4 RMs from the same Group? Wow that’s pretty significant.

3 or 4 RM down from group 10. All quit for better positions all the same time. Is it working for JC they didn't like? The cut in bonus, no salary increase year after year? Or do they know they needed to get out as soon as possible? These were all very long term people.

The RM's from G10 both left by choice, other job opportunities. The story is, one will be replaced then area territories will be divided by other RMS.
I can only imagine, like SMs, they must not have had pay increases, and bonus and 401k cuts. Or, maybe they knew something we don't and got out before the company folded?? Both were very long term GMs.

Which RMs?

I’m not sure who else they can lay off. Seems like most stores are run with skeleton crews. What’s the next step? Closing stores? I just don’t see how this company is sustainable and honestly I’m tired of worrying about. I’m going full steam ahead to look for something better. Don’t get me wrong, my time at Follett has actually been fairly positive overall. I’ve had some good direct bosses. I made some friends. I just don’t won’t to worry about losing my job anymore at a company that seems to be going downhill.

Normally to avoid leaks those at the C-suite keep their decision making hidden from the field (up to and including the GVPs) until the Monday of purge week. Information can sometimes be disseminated the day of the actual culling. I have witnessed 'right sizing' situations where a call gets set up on a Tuesday and the RMs get off a call detailing the cuts GVPs were handed Monday when PDev's successor hands them a sheet going 'yeah, these are gone, make it happen, k bye!' These purges happen when business activity is at a minimum such as now when returns for semester schools are done, but 'ideally' (sarcasm there) when quarter schools are done with their sales period as well. Either way, this month or the next, they have had almost a decade to practice and have gotten very good at cutting, far better than improving their business acumen or leadership. Already the labor budgets for March are zilch unless you have compelling sales. Each time it's 'can you believe they did that!?' and the answer is yes. This is a cult of Milton Friedman, dividend payouts no matter what. Sociopathic with no checks or balances.

If they know something we don’t then they should spill the beans. Jobs are so hard to come by these days. I look every single day. Maybe they don’t know anything and are hitting the road because they see the writing on the wall.
