Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How do you know?

I keep seeing all these threads about majority of claims going to India by the end of the year. How do people know this? I am genuinely curious how this information is known since apparently my manager and office are completely out of the loop. I definitely could see it happening, but are these posters just making this up to make people nervous, or is this a known fact that can be found in a statement from the company? Thanks in advance for any insight!

I remember getting a call from Allstate (prior to Allstate taking over the Esurance brand) as an Esurance employee and person on the line was some type of Allstate processor with a very thick India accent. She wanted my insured's contact information to complete their file. I said no. And she asked again, like it was in some type of script for her. Again, I said no. Then she acted like I had to disclose it. I had to inform her that I did not have permission to disclose my insured's information and it would be a DOI violation if I shared it with the third party carrier as someone working in claim should well know. I didn't bother to mention that there was a police report with all the information that she needed probably already sitting in her file. If she's only getting paid next to nothing, then Allstate is going to get next to nothing quality of work. You get what you pay for.

So is all of property and auto claims heading to India. What about areas such as large loss or the specialty condo team?

I know because I am one of those training and getting licensed and appointed India employees for claims functions from NOFL to adjusting to investigations. We have actually been doing this for 6 months now. We would have been doing it sooner if not for the pandemic as it delayed us a few months from starting.

I worked for Allstate for 35 years, most of them in leadership. Over the years I was privy to information I could not disclose to my employees and I abided that. For extremely sensitive topics I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Unfortunately, it’s a fact of business and being in leadership. I tried to instill trust with my employees by telling them what I could; if I didn’t know, I would tell them that. If I knew something but couldn’t discuss it I would tell them that as well. That advice was given to me by one of my first mentors when I started in 1986 and it served me very well over the years. Sadly, this isn’t your father’s, or my Allstate, anymore.

I can see the writing on the wall. My tasks are slowly being automated or the adjusters will be doing them themselves. It’s just a matter of time.

You believe your manager would tell you anything?

They don't know, 4 of these don't even work at Allstate. There are a lot of things that might happen.

Consider what you need to do in any situation

I've been here for 15 years.

As Bob Dylan sang

You don't need a weather man
To know which way the wind blows.

I'm here for the severance, or I would not be taking Tom & Glen's Road Show in the shorts.

Senior leader meeting in claims yesterday morning pretty much confirmed this.

All you have to do is follow the bread crumbs and connect the dots. Think. More and more work has been given to India. They are hiring like no tomorrow. Tom and Glen love cheap labor. India folks are smart educated people and work hard for far less. Follow the money. This place is the root of all evil. Let’s just hope they don’t turn on America and do something nefarious with all the USA customers data! Why on earth do they trust them so much! This company is chasing cheap labor. They don’t care who does the work as long as it’s cheap. It’s a “good value” right Glen ? Allstate's reputation has been eternally damaged for what they have done during a worldwide pandemic. They tossed Americans out and opened their arms to the cheapest labor they could find. Nice job boys
