Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Find a Job with a Company that is Growing

I was a long term employee at Follett. For the past 10 years it has been going down the tubes. Follett was only focused on cutting employee benefits, cutting people, and bringing high paid resources from other companies that failed miserably accelerated the decline. In the long run, Follett will not make it. You can't cut your way to success.

Many Follett employees have excellent skills that transfer to other opportunities. I ended up at Amazon in a fulfillment center. I started entry level but because Amazon is growing so quickly I was moved into a manager type role within 1 year. They value hard work, innovation and commitment to success. We are opening up warehouses everywhere. Sales are UP 40% from last year. There are many, many opportunities. They even provide tuition reimbursement in areas that enable you to leave Amazon. https://www.amazoncareerchoice.com/home

There are many other companies like Amazon, Target, Walmart etc that are growing. Follett was a great place to work when sales were growing each year. When the decline started, that started the decline in employee support and benefits. Follett no longer cares about it employees.

Don't underestimate your skills that you have learned over the years. Believe me, companies are looking for employees just like you. Good luck and you deserve better.

those are all big box retailers

Amazon is a union buster and the drivers are PEEING IN BOTTLES because they won't let them take bathroom breaks

The only Truth in your statement is that Follett started going down hill in the late 2000s, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Chegg all kicking Follett's b–t

This is no more than an ad for some of the worst retail positions. The companies stated here that are "growing" have some questionable (at best) employee track records. More than one of the stated companies in the past 2 years have cut hours for their teams to less than 30 hours a week to eliminate that pesky health insurance. They have also required open availability to maintain a part time position. See how many are actively seeking alternate employment. Their "growing sales" are made possible on the backs of their teams. Cutting their payroll to the bone, a less than livable wage, cuts in benefits helped their bottom lines. Please before you jump from the frying pan into the fire please seek out actual employees to see how they actually treat their workforce. Do your homework when looking for your new job.
