Allstate is really different compared to caring employers like CitiBank

From Business Insider:

Citigroup, which has approximately 8,500 staffers working in Texas, has converted its corporate office spaces in the cities of San Antonio and Irving into warming stations, a spokesperson for the company told Insider.

Employees can visit the sites to get warm, charge their electronic devices, and obtain water and granola bars that the firm is providing. Most of those employees work in operations and technology-related roles, as the bank does not operate a consumer branch footprint in the state.

Texas employee here also. 3 days no power. Same generator nonsense from my boss. We can't even find gas to run a generator if we had one let alone find one.

I'd guess that a generator can't be rented or bought at near any price right now.

I’m in Ohio also but it’s sorta dumb to not have compassion for others. They’re in freezing temps without power.....

Why is it none of you "current employees" thought to record these conversations?

@ohio - I'm a native Pennsylvania and nearly froze in Houston in 1989.
Power went out and it was cold.

Houses are not insulated as well as up north.
Bought a Generac 3500W Generator then. Still have it and never regretted buying it.

Have some compassion on the Texan's. You can't prepare for everything and have to prepare on the most common threats for your area.

Oh, @ohio, if you ever visit Texas during a rain storm, DON'T drive into a flooded underpass!

My boss asked me if I could unplug my space heater from my generator to power up my Allstate systems...I told her "MARY, I HAVE AN INFANT IN THE HOUSE! I AM NOT GOING TO LET MY CHILD FREEZE FOR ALLSTATE!"

A lot of our power is out in Texas and our managers are asking if we have a generator to power up our internet and work systems and if we don't have one they are asking if we have access to getting one. Not one sincere "how are you doing" but that we need to get up and running. Nevermind the fact that we are wearing coats in our homes because it is so cold outside and no heat. This company truly does hate its employees.
