Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Help! I have been trying to get hired in the Risk/Compliance area and need your suggestions!

All, I really want to work for USAA in the Risk/Compliance area and I have applied to several roles that I am well qualified for. I have great industry experience and track record. I keep getting the email responses that there were more qualified applicants. In one instance they were hiring 25 Business Control Officers, so the odds were good. I still didn’t get a call back. Anyone have advice on how I can get hired at USAA? I appreciate your help very much. Thanks

I will advise the individual to not get on board of USAA. I will provide my very blunt opinion, which, in fact, is very unbiased. Most people would agree with me here, but they don’t have a courage to speak up. This company has dramatically deteriorated in the last 20 years. In 2020 USAA cut its benefits almost in 1/2. You will not get your 401K match by 8 % anymore. You will not have sick leave days paid off to you on an accrual basis anymore. And most importantly... you will not have any job security, as you may think..On top of this USAA culture is very competitive and the type of competition can be described as simply a ‘back stubbing’. If I only knew all of these when I first join the organization... Another reason why you may not consider to get on board of the organization is because the company hiring strategy is to hire family members, siblings, cousins, close friends..etc. If you happen not to be one of them, no matter what you do, all your efforts are useless.

reach out some of the recruiters- they're on LinkedIn; connect with some USAA risk people on linkedin and ask for help

USAA postings are commonly posted to match a CTE moving to FTE. But they have to post as to be fair to all applicants. One thing you have to do is answer the questionnaire exactly as they expect. Say it asks XYZ experience...if you select no, you'll get filtered out. Some questions are specific enough you'd never have the experience without being a current contractor.

Outside that, knowing someone is your next best tool.
