Managers show up during a blizzard only cuz they don’t leave their offices but expect everyone to do their work
They have an option to “lay off weather”, but the superintendent has to approve which he rarely does. They didn’t even approve it during Hurricane Harvey when the yards got flooded and they had to evacuate everyone. Well they approved it after that happened when they looked stupid. But yeah usually you just have to use common sense and protect yourself and lay off when conditions are unsafe because UP won’t protect anyone but the shareholders.
Is act of God, even an option to take off? Will the railroad cover my expenses if I crash on the way to work? Will they pay you for the whole day if you show up late?
They asked one of the yard masters to sleep in the managers office last night on a cot so he would be at work today lol
If you work in NLR ole Blue/ Purple hair will try to fire you , she is all ways right and never made a mistake she will admit to !!! Of course she will not do it today because she had to ‘work from home “
