Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

How many of you with good performance were laid off?

From what I see here, Performance Does Not Matter. Especially if you are from an acquired company. You may have a 1 in 10 chance of sticking. Nor if you are the essential person in a unit who does that particular job. Your job is parceled out to others, adding to their nights and weekends.

post @bzg+19lkIF3J - Yes, the performance seems to be completely irrelevant. What a slap in the face to the best workers! I wasn’t laid off in this round, but these layoffs are a great lesson to get out of here as soon as possible.

NY. Work for 3 more weeks or forfeit your severance package. Torture.

We were all told Clinical Services would be safe...left unscathed. Was supposed to get a raise and bonus next month based on yet another positive annual evaluation. 10 weeks severance pay and 3 months COBRA subsidy. Makes you wonder how much age or personal health conditions factored into their decision. 🤔 Adding insult to injury during the pandemic. Even my boss was blindsided by this news on Wednesday. Acquire all these companies, then layoff 3,000 employees. Brutal. All about the 💵 with these corporate 🦈s.

This company is extremely toxic and full of swarms of snakes. It's the most game of thronesy place to work I've seen in a good long while. The acquire and acquire and acquire with no real strategy behind how to integrate and how to either leverage the current workforce or cut them loose. The way they go about it is so shady and unethical. It's disgusting that they are a multi billion dollar company, swimming in cash, but let people go during a pandemic.

The packages are dependent upon level and time of service. Some are gone after a month with a couple months pay and extended benefits for a couple months; others are set through 2021. Ironically, the lower level people who need the safety net are often the ones seriously scr3wed.

This is a very scary thought with the pandemic and economy the way they are right now is not very comforting. I hope this will cease.

After this stunt, anyone still working for Centene (especially as a legacy WellCare employee) should start looking for another job and have a Plan B. My team was told that we were safe until the end of 2020 by the head of my area in PHS. I was gone within a few months. Stellar reviews, worked long hours... This company doesn’t care about the human aspect of laying off 6% of its people when they’re greedy and buying more companies while people like us are laid off in a pandemic...and they continue stuffing their already fat pockets. I’d also like to know how certain PHS leaders get away with some of the shady stuff they’re up to. HR, you all have some serious blinders on - you’re supposed to look out for the employees, not kiss people’s %sees because they have a big title or a MD after their name. People are burning out, stressed out, and it’s like no one cares. Fake comments like, “is there anything I can do” - screw off, that’s what you pricks can do. Those lucky enough to be given severance - it’s almost like hush money, to just make us go away quietly so they can continue their ways...and thus the cycle continues.

They are not to layoff but inform of those that got laid off.

Any company that layoffs people on Friday is beyond an evil company. That is because according to HR rules that can create serious problems for the company since the employee does not have a regular working day to discuss issues with HR or other leaders.

If by chance they were to layoff on Friday, that would be a hideous evil undertaking.

The Friday meeting is common to tell who was let go and next steps. If you are on the Friday meeting invite list you are SAFE. I mean safe for now. 6% is massive layoff. You probably have about one year to be safe.

How far out did they schedule these meetings for? I have a meeting invite sent by an Executive Assistant that I got yesterday afternoon, the meeting is at 3pm tomorrow. My whole team was invited. We were told we were safe, but somehow I'm not so sure. Gotta love how they are going about this.

You were told safe and then laid off all in the same day?

How does that even happen?

Performance was a secondary factor after cost savings. I know of someone who received across the board Exceeds last week in their annual review and lost their job this week.

I had good review and in senior management...next day position eliminated but stay for few weeks. Uncomfortable for all.

Performance does NOT matter. They don't really even rely on the feedback from people with knowledge to determine layoffs.
