I'm not sure if this is the case with everybody but so far the people I know who were notified they were laid off all have one thing in common - their age. Every one of them are either in their late fifties or early sixties. Tell me that doesn't seem like age discrimination to you?

Lots of younger women got laid off at my office.
Late 50s here.🪓
Then I am really in trouble, in my sixties.
If you get a settlement of some type you waive your right to sue unless you can prove it is really age discrimination. The HR folks are pretty smart and will have a blend of being being part of the layoff. Yes, it looks like age discrimination but they will argue its more salary discrimination which is actually true.
Yes, you are 56 and got layoff. But they throw out some 24 year olds just to keep the lawyers off their backs
Or they will show 56 year olds that they could have been part of the layoffs but they decided to keep them.
The younger people will work harder and longer hours but they are also more likely to leave to another company paying more money since what is the point staying a long time when they be thrown out anyway.
not in my office. There is a variety of ages.
What locations are people getting laid off from?
Age, performance, salary or restructuring, I for one am glad to be out from under a narcissistic boss. The IT leadership is horrible
That is not it. The younger generation does not post here but on other more popular forms of social media. I know many in the 20s and 30s
Everyone I know is PA is under 45
Trust me it was not age related or even performance related. A lot of employees let go were of all ages and even “top performers”. Overworked since November and missed out on a lot of family time due to their “mandatory” OT. Centene doesn’t care about their employees. Always saying how their employees are a priority etc ... the way things were done says otherwise. Every employee is just a number. All they care about is their numbers and running their reports.
It's probably less age discrimination and more salary discrimination. Folks later in their careers typically make more money than people just starting out.
Trust me when I say they are very careful to pick at least a couple younger folks within the same group so it does not allow an age discrimination case.
I'm 57 and got laid off too
It certainly seems to be the case. It just happened to me as well.
Oh, well that doesn’t sound good to me, at 56.
