I know so many people who are stuck in the 'insurance' mindframe even when they have better alternatives available. This happens even when some folks are laid off, they just wait for that perfect opportunity in the same field not even considering anything else for years sometime. Don't be that person. If you can't find an exact replacement for your current/old job, move on. The world is much bigger and brighter than this one field you pigeonholed yourself in.

I am sticking with insurance. I have been in this field for 20+ years, hold multiple insurance licenses including P&C, Life, and Commercial, and I am damn good at what I do with insurance. Just because the smoldering trash heap that is Allstate decided that I cost too much and they decided to stick with cheap, untalented new employees and overseas slave labor doesn't mean another company won't jump at paying top dollar for my high level services. There are literally hundreds of insurance companies big and small that need people like me and us.
With the severance, unemployment being paid to me, and having been financially responsible with over a year emergency fund in multiple accounts I plan on taking 4-5 more months off, spending time with family and kids, and enjoying life for a while. Once I decide to get back to work insurance is where I'll be. For those that decide to leave the insurance industry that is your choice in life and there will be plenty of good opportunities out there especially once this pandemic wanes in the next few months.
