Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I was let go in 2020

Long-time "older" employee.

I think I am in the minority in that I figure this is just the way things are.

There is no such thing as job security these days.

It's only business and not personal.

I hated being let go.

Everything that was comfortable was taken from me, but ultimately I am just a number and that is the reality most places you go.

Keep your Linkedin up to date, keep yourself open to recruiters on Linkedin.

Always be ready your next move.

Long gone are the days when people stay at companies for years on end.

Before I found my current job, I had more than one recruiter tell me this.

My ACLS and CPR just expired too. I know this lit a fire under my butt to get moving on getting my CCM certification for case management.

And no one's expectation should be loyalty from a company.

Particularly if you are older, you will never be seen as an 'up and comer'. Thus your tenure will be in single digits. Think of yourself as a contractor even if you are FTE, and always look for the next position or a Plan B. It's managing your expectations. And no one's expectation should be loyalty from a company.
