Thread regarding Follett layoffs

How many have had to get a second job?

At least half of the people at my location were forced to get a second job because the hours at Follett have been cut so drastically. Those who can are leaving. The only ones who are staying are those who are yet to find a better option. Sadly, there are always enough desperate people who’ll replace them despite knowing what they’re walking into. And for as long as that’s true, I don’t see Follett doing anything to improve our situation.

I got a second job to help pay my holiday bills. I've been there since November and they've already given out two bonuses for our hard work during the pandemic. Meanwhile at Follett I'm working days by myself so that my store manager can do the RMs job for him.

I am a sm and have had a 2nd job for a long time since my salary is not high enough to pay my bills.

as an SM at a small store I have multiple side jobs. Only people calling back on jobs think 15 an hour is generous to me given my 'lack of experience' in anything related to business.

Give them what they pay for - an employee who could care less!
Not done right? Too bad!
Not set up in time? So sad!
Customer said you were rude to them? Love Dad!
No matter how hard you work Follett isn't going to reward you with anything other than less pay or less hours OR BOTH!
It's just a bad job. Do as little as possible. They aren't going to fire you because they can't replace you.

Two of my employees have been on unemployment this whole time. One hasn't been able to find a second job yet, but I know he's looking. I plan to be gone as soon as possible. I'll even take a job that pays less (which might be hard to find, considering how little this job pays) just to be done with this insanity. I can honestly say that this is one of the worst jobs I've ever had. It's simply not worth the stress, the aggravation, the terrible pay, the endless expectations, etc. I've never been so demoralized at a job. I'm tempted to leave even without a job lined up, just for my own mental health.
