How does the 737 max chief engineer, get a promotion after the disaster that program was? This is a perfect example of what’s wrong with the Boeing company.

He should’ve been fired for gross incompetence for how the 737 max MCAS system was designed and implemented. Instead he’s given a promotion

My first hand experience with Delaney is that he is intelligent, arrogant, and honest. Two of these attributes will serve him well in his new position. The other - not so much.

For those who haven't worked at Boeing

First priority of any employee: Never put your name to anything. The name of the game is avoiding blame. You will never be recognized for doing something correct but used as a scapegoat if things go wrong. Those who move forward in pay and career simply avoid being responsible, often times by moving around every 6 months to a year.

At minimum, the first half of any given meeting is used by people to declare why it wasn't their fault. That's what new hires are for... blame.
