I got my WFR notice on Friday and my last day is 12 March. As soon as the WFR call was over, I notified my previous, long-term client that I would soon be leaving DXC and would be fully available. Now it is Monday, 3 days later, and I have a new job, with the client.

  1. The company I am going to has a LOT of exciting stuff going on.
  2. The nature of the work will enable career-growth in a discipline that is very interesting to me.
  3. I get to work again with someone that I worked with for several years. I personally know them to be an amazing manager and all around great person.
  4. I will get paid much more (after getting no raises at DXC for the past 5 years).

All in all, I am pretty happy to have been WFR'd.

Moving on down the road and looking forward to a new and exciting view.
I am in the US. I got WFR'd today after nearly 25 years (combined service recognition from HP, etc.) I will get 8 weeks severance.
I've been ''just in case'' preparing for this day for the past 2 years. Emotionally, I am feeling really, really good and am ready to move on and welcome something new that will revive my passion.
Good Luck to All. Farewell DXC.

TUPE'd and laid off.... if that's actually true you might want to get some legal advice on that.

Go see citizens advice bureau...

It's already started. FDS people in Telford have been TUPEd into DXC and are being WFR'd at the end of March when all the contracts there are moved to Scotland, which isn't ready to take on thework.

UK+I will be down to less than 100 by the end of FY22. Guess where the last few clients will be palmed off to.

WFR is just a continuous process and not because there's a bar like MacKenzie of Goldbag Sachs. If there were then we'd be free of the Mikey Mk1 clones that Mikey Mk2 brought in (apologies to the originals who still hold their top table slots and are genuine Mikey Mk1 people like the AsiaPac lead).

Each quarter there's a slash and burn to make the numbers on the declining revenue base.

2 rounds of WFRs in the US already since 1/22/2021.

Judging from all the layoffs I've witnessed to date, they announce a WFR 3 to 6 months in advance without directly informing those who are impacted. I don't know why they do this, but it sure leaves a mark on those impacted, or not impacted; low employee morale is the result.

Once the closure of fiscal quarter approaches, the layoffs ensue en masse. This usually happens 2-4 weeks in advance, depending on the region. In the Americas, it is 1-5 days in advance.

The plan is probably in place now that they have a view on q4 potential. The WFR process never stops - it has become a necessary part of closing a quarter unfortunately! it seems to go in waves round globe - US, Uk&I then Europe and finally ANZ. I think schedules are based on the notice required by employment law in each country. US = no plan, UK requires a 45 day 'dance' + statutory payments and Europe is very complex e.g. I know lots in the last European wave that are on full pay gardening leave for 18 months! (Imagine building that cost into the books?) They just did some in US (22nd Jan) so my feel the next UK cycle is imminent as they start the excel smudging for q4.

Tuesdays for us Wednesday's the latest

There are about 10 to 13 groups in DXC so about four times a year once per quarter each group goes through layoffs
