Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

You can kiss job security goodbye

Job security was once a thing at Hitachi but those days are long gone. Now we are at a point where any day can mean potential layoffs. Sad but true. No wonder people are hating their jobs and leaving in droves. Who would want to stay at a place where stress and anxiety are part of their job description?

Correct. Highly paid are being let go which is funny as the talent was so low a few years ago we had to bring in highly paid talent. Enter GFK to slashing budgets and he eliminates the acquired talent, so we are left with the same low quality talent. Then the snake brings low quality talent from Cognizant and pays them like high quality! It’s so very comical.

Job security may exist way back in the 70’s to probably early 90’s. Since the dotcom booming, to be more competitive, company no longer keeping the “fats” (non productive / or low performance employees ) in the company. Look at the bright side, an employee not performing well in one company, probably Will perform very well in different company, It all depends on right fit for the job and management team.

CS&S has been bringing in REAL revenue to HV for years. Unfortunately, that revenue was used on buying small useless cloud companies that produced little or no revenue. The service personnel were being told lies about what they needed to do to be a valuable employee. All BS. If you got certified you got laid off regardless. Don’t TRUST GFK or Susan.

I spent 20+ years at Hitachi and am so glad to have moved on. This comment bothers me

"the entire tech field is sh*t anymore. It's a lousy field of work all the way around"

Yes, the entire tech field is...... Support center driven by folks that reference a knowledge base and if it's not there, well duh, I don't know. Let me get L2 involved. Even by now many of our customers should feel betrayed. Slide in third party service organizations and have HV CE's train them. Once trained, there goes the REAL HV CE to the unemployment line. But of course all the BS from up top, "Many of these retired". Big bold face lie. Dangled a carrot in their face and asked to leave and please sign this disclosure it's not about age discrimination. You draw your own conclusion.

I don't think this is true. IMO there are some great opportunities out there. Granted, things are complicated, but there is a ton of opportunity. I think small companies and startups are a lot more interesting again.

Response to the "covert layoff" comment. That approach has been going on for YEARS. Since about 2015...If you don't know who was laid off or know someone that does, you'll never know. It's by design.

And by the way, the entire tech field is sh*t anymore. It's a lousy field of work all the way around.

HV is a joke! What cesspool of ego, and old-school management style.
If HV fired every director and above, with the exception of a few, a very select few, C-levels, Directors and VPS, and kept the people who actually do the work, they would be 100% more efficient with new ideas, approaches, and strategies. HV has no soul, and no, HV, you can't fake that. (:

I was terminated over a year ago from the federal division. The virus hit and its been difficult to find a decent place to hang my hat. Defiantly start looking and get a few gigs lined up. Much easier to do while you’re employed. The notice comes without warning. The severance package is only a false sense of security. Good luck

to the "sinking ship" response. Problem is, you leave the Titantic only to board the Andrea Doria. Right now its a no win situation especially with uncertainly with the virus.

It appears that the Company is now doing a covert-like layoff to dampen morale issues. This tactic is not going to work and any only add fuel to the rumor fire. The Trust Me campaign is OVER and replaced with F¥€K ME.

High ethical standards?
1- Hire worthless friends. pay more
2 lay-off good people, hire contractors.

  1. Keep "YES" men at the top level

Why are you waiting so long to quit a sinking ship?? Are you used to your cage??
The smoke signs of the ship sinking were visible to me in 2015. I must admit that it took me two years to jump ship. But i always wonder why people are still contemplating jumping. You want the life vest (severance) before you jump??

I think you have it all wrong!

"We at Hitachi Vantara (also referred to as “the Company”) believe that high ethical standards are the foundation of both a successful business and a great work environment. Customer loyalty and respect from the communities in which we operate are earned from our reputation as a fair and honest company. We have the utmost confidence in the values and ethics of our employees."

Come on team, "great work environment"! "Trust me. I've done this before." "Bottom-up leadership!"

Are you with me!!!!?
