I worry a lot. Once I’m done with work, I can’t stop thinking about what tomorrow will be like. My private life is beginning to suffer. I can’t stop complaining to my wife or my friends... and everyone is getting tired of all that complaining, myself included. The only way forward is to find a new job urgently, however I cannot succeed, no matter how hard I try.
What are your experiences like?

What job were you doing beforehand? When I got notified we were getting let go later this year I immediately updated my LinkedIn. I had recruiters calling and emailing a day later. Don’t give up! I know it’s a daunting task.
It takes patience, perseverance and self confidence.
Last day was 10/30/20. 35 years with the company. I have not found a job yet. I hope Allstate is happy with the way they have done their employees. There is clearly a lot of people struggling and they do not care.
OP,
I was in similar situation in February last year but I found another job when I smelled that I was going to be laid off.
I was able to quickly change job because I accepted pay cut ($20k below) and accepted a lower designation. Most important thing is that you need to tame your arrogance (not being harsh) for sometime.
I am much happier with my current job than my previous higher salary job and expecting promotion this year.
All the best.
Been laid off since November received a few offers but the pay is not close to what I was making.

Don’t confuse maniacally applying for a lot of job postings on LinkedIn and Indeed with a productive job search. You need to be externally focused and network, network, network. Get out of your comfort zone. And take care of yourself. If you act defeated you will be defeated. I’ve been downsized twice in my career and had to learn these lessons the hard way. But I’m thriving these days. Again, don’t just set behind a keyboard and search for job openings. Yes, you have to do that stuff but it is a fraction of what goes into a successful job search. Work on your health and personal appearance. And be honest with yourself on additional skills training and education you need to get where you think you want to go. Peace
Remember, there is more to life than work. Until this virus is eliminated the next year will be rough in the job market. You may even have to take a temporary job for a year or two that you don't like. Once this virus is over the market should improve and you can find a quality job
Got laid off with last day in November and haven't even started looking. Still trying to get mentally right from the toxic environment and mental abuse of Allstate and their leadership. I was. Tenured better than expected employee and never see myself professionally being the same again and will never give 100% to any company again. Allstate ruined that. Luckily I had a lot of money saved and I am milking my severance and unemployment so have over a year of money available to live on. I know not everyone is fortunate enough to be in my position but I am going to wait several months to start looking. Maybe let the job market and pandemic improve all while trying to get mentally right after all this.
