Restructuring has begun

Layoffs have started. We lost 2 full time employee today at our Kmart. Severance was given. Good luck to them.

Even though we all know this fake news LP satirical, worthy of The Onion bs is bs, lets play along. There’s no customers in the stores to serve. There’s no inventory to stock or organize. What do you expect the associates to do all day? By your own admission, 100% of all employees should be let go, which would leave you LP guys left with nothing to do but clean out your desks and head for the unemployment line. Explain that one, fake LP guys!

  1. P. is useless and a waste. You guys waste more money and time then all stores put together. Weither it be in store or remotely. USELESS.
  2. P. is the true payroll black hole s—.

The people they let go in our store were prolly the best we had. But yeah let's keep our L.P. who NEVER catches anyone. Never stops any shoplifting. No internals. Never helps clear the store cause they don't stay long enough even thou we are only open 7 hours a day. USELESS.

The remote monitoring of the stores cameras by loss prevention really aided in this round of layoffs. We were able to see at each individual store, over thousands of recorded hours, who wasted the most company time. It would make you sick if you saw the time theft we observed. Primarily only non-productive associates were laid off recently, with a few others being laid off for different reasons.

Products have nothing to do with restructuring. Restructuring is changing how they staff the stores.

Usually when they let full-time staff go, it’s not too much longer before they announce that the store will be closing.

What changes in product lines does the restructuring involve?

Restructuring began over a decade ago when Lampert took over.

" in my folder they had a list of all the associates’ titles, who were not terminated and the list of those who were...with their ages"

When I was let go from another company, I was given a similar list, as I was over 50. It's supposed to be proof that they are not discriminating on the basis of age, and it might even be a legal requirement.

Hard to believe there are still full-time staff left to cut.

If they canned 10 associates, there wouldn’t be anyone left working at that location

We lost 10 associates and 1 ASM at my Kmart. It was a bloodbath. Thank god there was severance. I was one of those let go and in my folder they had a list of all the associates’ titles, who were not terminated and the list of those who were...with their ages. I found that strange. The store manager told one of the associates laid off “don’t look at this as an age thing”.
