Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Eerie silence from HO

Our store had a terrible rush. Worst I’ve seen in my years with the company. Never had a line more than 4-5 people long, and we’re not a small store. RM has been almost completely silent, and no chatter from HO. Wtf?

Have to wonder how the governor's new budget cutting a billion in corporate tax breaks will affect Follet.
Not like Follett is in the position to pass along the cost to the consumer so this will be coming out of the family's pocketbook.

You need to put your own (and your family) personal priorities ahead of Follett. And those priorities are to update your resume, look for jobs and improve skills in areas that you have an interest. If you continue to put Follett's needs ahead of yourself, you will come out on the losing end when you are laid off. Do you think that Follett puts your needs ahead of the company or the family dividend. Follett will always have more work than resources to do it. The fool will work late, put in extra effort only to be laid off at some point. You are paid for 8 hours of work. You need to prepare for your future.

Think about it, if you kids worked for a company like Follett and asked you for advice what would you tell them?

PC retired almost a year ago. It was well publicized. TL took over as acting CEO as well as still chairmen.
It seems like a lot of the RMs are burnt out or quickly getting there.

Just noticed PC is no longer CEO, I mean maybe that's the sort of thing that happens and you care so little you don't even bother remembering. The man who wasn't there.

The majority of home office was outsources and those 600 people were laid off or furloughed.

Opposite problem for me. Endlessly, nonstop busy all day because I'm not allowed to have any help except for one PT for less than 10 hours a week. Normally, I have 4 to 6 employees. One! That's all I'm allowed to have for rush. RM doesn't care that the school and customers are getting p-ss-d off. Doesn't care that I can't fill web orders in the SLA time. Doesn't care that I'm not filling orders for other stores at all. He's completely given up. I honestly think they want to lose the contract at this point, and are just sabotaging the store to help that along. We really are alone out there. Can't expect anything from HO at all.

IME (is that a thing?) working with A/P to get bills paid I know they're still on rotation in and out of the office. GM vanished completely off the face of the earth, and other things that aren't being widely announced (beyond the April suddenly stupid conferences for each business unit.) It's quiet because there are only a few not on furlough or off it. It's not a great time to be at the HO in general, though if you have VP in your name, it's a quarter mil a year and IDGAF to the world.
