Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

The firings are still taking place?

Didn't we have a round of mass firings in June? I thought they were done with that but now I see there are still firings going on. Is what I've been reading a solitary case or are they still systematically reducing numbers using firings for even the smallest issues/infractions?

I've worked for Allstate for 16 years. I put in a solid 8 hour day and have been loyalist to the company I work for. But I haven't advanced at Allstate beyond a couple small moves. My performance reviews are always average, and that's because I've had horrible yuppie bosses the last 9 years. One of them told me that people in other groups don't always find me competent or easy to work with. That's completely false, as I have many friends in the company. These yuppie hotshot managers have seen their careers at Allstate skyrocket even though they are generally 15-20 years younger than a proven veteran employee like myself. Where's my reward? I do all my work. How come I haven't been promoted or been able to advance. My loyalty to the company has been dismissed. This is discrimination of a middle aged worker who has put in his time with the company. Meanwhile I see my neighbors buying new cars, and taking vacations, etc. while I'm stuck driving a 12 year old Ford Focus. I haven't taken a vacation to somewhere exciting in years because I can't afford it. What does Allstate have to say about that? Where's my reward for loyalty to the company?

Meanwhile, Glenn Shapiro made $4,613,043 in total compensation in 2019. He's certainly being rewarded.

Yes. Performance and behavioral improvement processes have become much less lenient. They have been pretty open in that. Not to side with this joke of a company but way too many people with performance and attendance issues have held onto their jobs much longer than they should have. This seems to be k–ling two birds with one stone in getting rid of these wastes of payroll and reducing numbers and costs without having to mess with severance. Ethical? Depends on your view. Effective? Pretty much. We all have to agree that there are a lot of worthless ineffective employees who have been around way too long and who have long overstayed their welcome simply because their seat fits the shape of their butts over time.

Well, if you don't meet documented performance objectives over a set period of time then it is grounds for termination. Allstate is putting real teeth into performance expectations as its another way beyond layoffs to reduce force. Not a lot of recourse for anybody. You either get the work done to the quality standard that has been set, or your gone.

I'm not asking about layoffs, I'm asking about firings specifically. Kicking people out without severance.

In 2020 the only thing that they were transparent about were that layoffs would take place for multiple years. Last year were the regions to zones transitions and elimination of back office and internal department areas and reductions in all departments to reduce overall salary budget. 2021 layoffs will be heavily focused on claims and service areas that are transitioning more to India. Also redunancies with the National General acquisition and on boarding. 2022 should bring elimination of many agency support areas and the start of the elimination of the agents themselves. Expect regular layoffs through at least the end of 2022.

Where have you been? Why would you think they were done with the layoffs. If you remember when they first brought up transformative growth in 2020 @ kick off it was described as a multi year plan. These layoffs will continue until 2022 I’m sure. They have already been happening years prior.
