Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What do you guess as the % of current EM employees looking elsewhere for jobs right now?

I peg it at about 50% are seriously looking, 25% dabbling, and 25% living in a bubble with no concern. What are your guesses?

Whatever it is I predict it is about to go up. PIP is coming and others are sick of the annual hunger games and cut benefits with no opportunities or upside here anymore.

Bottom third needs to look for a job. Top 40% get to enjoy RSU. Cut costs and save the dividend

Making way too much money for you to worry about me. And believe me, you are not successful enough to be my bruh in this or any other life. I don’t drink kool-aid. I eat RSUs. And they are yummy, but my tummy is so full. Want some? Haha

Utter nonsense. The usual 10-15% may be looking, but judging by this board, less than 5% will actually have the intestinal fortitude to leave the mother ship. Lots of noise and OMGs among the whining crowd, but the vast majority of employees are hunkered down. A few departments may have near term issues with attrition, but this will level out soon. EM is healthier coming out of this Covid mess than it was going in. Great days ahead.

I would frequently work until 3AM during planning season carrying the entire workload of my team. Got a great ranking, and still got laid off. People notice c-ap like this you realize, right? I don’t care if you are Outstanding with Distinction, you are doing yourself a disservice if you aren’t testing the market.

Considering I’ve had 5 friends reach out to me to inquire if I’m hiring in the last 2 weeks, I’d say it’s very high.

I bet it varies by age and time with the company as well. New employees or those with les than 15 years with the company I expect are looking in higher percentages than you stated.

The 25% are the high performance employees living in the bubble are butt kissing, Kool aid drinking, upwarding managing, great at management speak, yes men and women, that believed their intelligence and those of their peers and the god pod is so above those of everyone else that they can manage their way into being the best O&G company on planet earth. They will also be the ones that turn out the lights for good in all the office buildings and sell off all the operating units. Keep looking while you have a job and leave when the opportunity arises, this business model is doomed to fail, is in its last cycle, and has been failing at ExxonMobil for the last 20 years, it is now in its final stages, and the 25% is responsible. But hey, Woods, the Board, the god pod, the past, present, and current CEOs, Presidents, SVPs, VPs, and the Executives made a bunch a money for themselves and their families in the process. XOM is in free fall.

Welcome to a company of zero leadership and an outdated employee placement program. Seriously, how does an employee grow when a supervisor 3 levels above them makes decisions about career moves and how does the company get better when their supervisor has zero clue what their employees do typically (most "managers" not group leads).

This is a failing company of yes men. We are losing to our peers because we want to outsource all our work instead of growing it internally. Now we are wanting to outsource our "technical expertise" to low cost locations with engineers that have barely passed college. We are becoming a company that believes we can manage our way out of problems to be the best company in O&G.

I'm not looking right now because I'm financially stable and able to be out of a job for awhile and wanting to ride this to (or not) to my next planned role. The moment that goes away I'm out.

@ypz+19XzB0dA Anyone who's seen how arbitrary the recent lay-offs were is looking.

Why should we be expected to give all of our effort to a company who's ready to cut people and benefits at a higher rate than its peers?

No need to bootlick here.

That is BS. Why would you look for another job if you are willing to work hard and are not afraid to compete Exxon is a great company. It is only those that have cruised for the last few years and are now realizing that they will no longer get away with it.....

I think it is slightly more but it could be a lot less depending on the input variables.

In the US that’s a reasonable guess
