Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What was last year's % proportion of ranking categories?

Was it equal proportion of 20-20-20-20-20 or does the proportion vary?

Damn. Under the "very good" bucket, you are in fact below average?

If I remember correctly

Outstanding 20-25% with distinction up to 10% included
Excellent 20-25%
Very Good 15-20%
Good 15-20%
Need improvement 15% with 8% NSI included

@2qnm+19X8hyGV I can assure you that last year NI/NSI+Good was less than 40%, as was the equivalent at the top. It’s anyone’s guess for this one coming up but there will be targets as always.

Wrong. NSI is a sub-bucket within the bottom bucket. Just like outstanding with DISTINCTION is a sub bucket within outstanding. Only difference in these sun buckets is there is a required percentage to go into NSI but not outstanding with distinction. The five main buckets are all equally filled up. No curve or anything like that as I originally stated.

Nah, the senior managers in my department said that it’s gg to be at 8% because DW said so. Still a lot of fat to trim in the company - else the dividend and RSUs are being threatened. Good luck folks!

FYI there is some super secrete “alternative ranking profile” they can choose to use for “high performing work groups”. I think they do this for rank groups that would have butt hurt people should they get good or lower, but I have no clue what the distributions look like for this.

@1msp+19X8hyGV this is false. Literally everyone on here knew NSI was 8% for 2019 and normally expected to be 3%. It’s a moving target every year.

Yes it is equal in all buckets. No bell curve or distribution.

Shady process indeed. Just overheard a manager say that though the PDS process is still ongoing he has already been asked to provide names of those going in to NSI, even though he hasn't even reviewed PDSs of all of his employees yet. If this doesnt give away on how shady of a process is than I dont know what else of a proof are you DWooders are seeking.

Interesting question ha! This question alone exposes how shady the ranking process is. The management and HR knows these details but they willfully and purposefully dont share with employees, even though these employees are stakeholders in the process who directly get impacted by decisions made by their higher paid bosses. A shady process, because? "WeAreExxonMobil" and because "I am DW and the process worked for me". b—s— continues!

Anybody else have the full information?
Is it different for different functions?

Not sure about the upper groupings but Good/NI/NSI combined is about 30% with the bulk of that in Good

While I don’t know the answer for certain, haven’t we all been on one big bell curve since college? An even distribution across all buckets doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Oh wait, if we went to a private college, everything in that bell curve ended up being As and Bs. And then the poor couple ‘tail’ boys and girls got the dreaded C. Hmmm....maybe that is why it is such a struggle for us to be in the middle of the ranking profile?
