Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

OCI vs Amazon vs Microsoft Salry

Many people from Amazon joined OCI. Does it mean that Oracle have beaten Amazon interms of pay. I now Amazon pays roughly $350k per engineer in terms of base + stock. Did Oracle pays that much? If not, how people are joining from Amazon, particularly the those senrior people and leadership team?

No one who left Amazon was a rock star over there. Oracle just had to be competitive enough to lure the worst of the best.

Amazon doesn't refresh their stock maybe. Money talks.

Even IC4s get stock.

  1. In AWS they probably never had a shot at being in a leadership role due to intense competition in talent. Move to Oracle, less talent and you get a title. With that comes $.
  1. This is an assumption, but I think a certain tier of management+ are eligible for stock (unsubstantiated but on the rumor mill). Amazon give stock irrespective of grade. So not sure how that stacks up when you put the two side by side.

Honestly Oracle is just a better and more easygoing place to work than Amazon, and word of mouth stretches back. We'll take lower pay for better quality of life. For all the grousing on this board, people don't realize how much worse it can be.
